Dean Deatherage, was born Nov. 27, 1975, in Mansfield, and departed this life April 8, 2007, at the age of 31.
Dean was the son of Vernard "Vern" L. Deatherage Sr. and Wilma (Johnson) Potts.
Dean was a life long resident of Ava. He was a substitute teacher at the Gainesville Schools. He loved the kids and teaching the Gainesville students.
He had received the following degrees from Drury University: BSC, BSP and BSS. Dean was enrolled for higher education and was hoping for a law degree. He enjoyed teaching, traveling, and eating his Uncle John's Monster Cookies. He had a zest for life that all will remember. He lived life to the fullest.
Dean is survived by his father, Vernard "Vern" L. Deatherage Sr. and Kathleen, of Ava; his mother, Wilma (Johnson) Potts, Mansfield; two brothers, Noah Deatherage, Selma, Ala., and Vernard Deatherage Jr., Farmington; maternal grandmother, Opal Johnson, Ava; paternal grandmother, Nora Deatherage Hunsaker, Mansfield; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
Services will be 4:30 p.m. Thursday, April 12, at the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with the Rev. Oren Alcorn officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, from 4 p.m. until service time. Interment will follow in the Dyer Cemetery. Online codolences may be made to www.clinkingbeardfuneralhome. com "
