  Richard S. Eby,72, of 314 Linden Street, Terre Hill, died unexpectedly Tuesday morning at Ephrata Community Hospital. He was under a doctor's care. Eby and his wife owned Eby's Store,Martindale from 1964 until he retired last August. At one time, he was a farmer. He was a member of Bethany Mennonite Church, East Earl, where he was an elder for eight years. He also belonged to Lancaster East Camp,Gideons International and Garden Spot Lions Club. He was president of Martindale Fire Company in the 1980s. Eby was known as Martindale's unofficial mayor. He enjoyed hunting and golfing. Born in Earl Township, he was the son of the late Aaron B. and Edna Sensenig Eby. He was married 50 year's on Feb.3 to Jane L.Buckwalter Eby. Surviving in addition to his wife are three daughters, Deborah, married to Dennis Ober of Ephrata; Diane,married to Edwin Delgado of East Earl; and Nancy,married to Frank Portaro of New Holland; three sons, Larry D.,married to Laverne Zimmerman Eby; and Ronald L, married to Lois Beachy Eby, both of East Earl;and R. Bruce, married to Tess Hershey Eby of Narvon; 15 grandchildren; and three brothers, Isaac and John, both of Ephrata; and Les of Atgten.He was preceded in death by a brother, Clyde. and a sister, Elta Martin.
