    • With Permission from Thomas Scribner:

Beulah Lois Scribner, 89, Arnold, Missouri, formerly of Joplin, Mo., passed away at 9:27 p.m. Monday, July 23, 2001at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis.

Beulah was born February 3, 1912 in Lowell, Arkansas, the daughter of the late Elmer and Mattie Davis. On May 28, 1930 she married Floyd Edward Scribner in Cassville, Mo. He preceded her in death in 1975. Also preceding her in death was her grandson Lawrence Scribner in 1968; daughter-in-law, Carole Anne Scribner, in 1977; stepson, Edward "Pat" Scribner, in 1994; and great-grandson Alex Lown in 2001.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Dean and Vera, Darrell and Carol Jean of Diamond, Michael and Margie of Carl Junction, Frank, Cecil and Carol Lee, of Joplin, Curtis of Duenweg, daughter and son-in-law Connie and Thom Day of Arnold; and step daughter-in-law Dorothy Scribner of Cassville. Additional survivors include 15 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.

In 1925, at the age of 13, she accepted Christ as her personal Savior. Thru out her life she instilled her Christian values in her children and grandchildren. She was a member of Diamond Grove Christian Church near Diamond, Missouri. For the last year she was attending the First Baptist Church of Arnold, Mo., having moved there to live with her daughter and son-in-law due to advancing Alzheimer's disease.

During the 1960's she was active in Sunday school and Vacation Bible school at Spring Valley Community Church as a teacher. She had worked in housekeeping at the old Holiday Inn of Joplin from 1963 to 1974. Prior to and after that she worked as a homemaker, mother, and grandma to and for her family.

Services will be held at 10:00 Friday in the Chapel at Mason-Woodard Mortuary. Phil Lockhart of the Diamond Grove Christian Church will officate. Burial will be in the Dice Cemetery in Fairview, Missouri. Those serving as pallbearers will be Chris Day, Steve Scribner, Marty Scribner, Korey Scribner, Doug Bradley, Travis Scribner, and Eric Lown.

The family will receive friends at the mortuary from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary. Donations may be made to the local Alzheimer's fund.
      ----------------------------

My Gramma Beulah was a kind and wonderful woman. She was truly loved by her family and friends and well respected within her church and community. I remember Gramma as being very gentle and loving. I dearly loved my Gramma Beulah and will miss her always.

Worth mention is that Beulah's daughter Connie and her husband Thom cared for Beulah in her last years and were with her at the time of her death. Connie and Thom relied on their faith in God, their love in one another and accepted the responsibility, enduring the difficulties of caring for a loved one with Alzheimer's Disease. I would like to give a tremendous "Thank You" to Thom and Connie for all that they did for Gramma Beulah.
