He moved with his father in 1828 to Carroll County, Maryland near Westminster, the County-seat. He moved to Ohio, remained there two years, then went back across the mountains. They lived in the western part of Montgomery County, Ohio until March 20th, 1855 when they moved to Preble County, Ohio about 3 1/2 miles west of Camden where they remained. They are members of the Dunkard or Brethren Church. His farm consisted of about 600 acres.
