- Dean L. Hord
MARION: Dean L. Hord, age 65, of Marion, went to be with the Lord on Thursday evening, October 25, 2012.
Dean was born on May 20, 1947, in Marion, the son of Loren H. and Juanita E. (Metzger) Hord. Dean attended Harding High School and graduated in the class of 1965. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. On September 23, 1967, Dean was united in marriage to Avonelle "Avie" Thomas and together they have shared 45 loving years of marriage.
Dean worked as a truck driver for Vigortone Ag Products, retiring from there after 19 years of service. Most recently, he has worked for Schmidt Security Pro as a security officer.
Dean was very devoted to his family and his greatest joy was spending time with them. He also enjoyed watching and cheering on the Ohio State Buckeyes. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene and also was a member of the American Legion Post #97 of Cardington.
He is survived by his devoted wife Avonelle "Avie" Hord, his children: Amy (Johnny) Edler and Kevin (Wendi) Hord; his grandchildren: Michael, Brooke and Samantha Edler and Kiley Hord; his mother Juanita E. Hord; Siblings: Yvonne (Richard) Dendinger and Dwight (Chris) Hord.
He is preceded in death by his father Loren Hord.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 30, 2012, at the First Church of the Nazarene, 233 West Church St., Marion, from 4PM to 7PM; Funeral services will be held at the church on Wednesday at 10:30AM with Rev. Riley Powell officiating. Burial will be in the Grand Prairie Cemetery with military honors being rendered.
