    • Mrs. Kate Eby, 93, of Fountain View Place, Elkhart, died Monday, October 17 (1983) at 9:20 a.m. in her home from an extended illness. Born June 15, 1890 in Cass County, she had been a resident of Birch Lake in Vandalia for 35 years and was a homemaker and lifetime Cass County resident. In 1907, in Cass County, she married Leo S. Eby, who preceded her in death on September 5, 1964.

      Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Paul (Grace) Scheiner of Elkhart; one granddaughter, Mrs. Randall (Carol) Higgins of Hinsdale, Illinois? and two great-grandsons, Michael and Timothy Higgins of Hinsdale, Illinois

      She had been a member of the Kessington Community Church in Mason Township and had founded the Pine Row Club in Vandalia many years ago.

      Funeral services were held Thursday, October 20 at Kessington Community Church with Rev. Paul Black, pastor, officiating. Burial took place in Plum Grove Cemetery in Porter Township and Cass County.
