    • Comments: Hello from Scotland! In the small village in Moray where I grew up and where my father still lives there are 3 Commonwealth War Graves from WW1. They are all from the Canadian Forestry Corps, and one of them is the grave of Private Garfield Eby. In looking for information about the graves I came across your website and saw that Garfield Eby was Thomas Garfield Eby from your family, person ID I271987797188 in your database. His date of death was 5 November 1918.

Garfield Eby and one of the other young men died within a day of each other in November 1918, and the other died in May 1918. It's a guess that the November deaths were due to the flu pandemic. I know that by 1918 Canadian Forestry Corps members were being sent to the Front in France, but if they had died in France they would have been buried in a Commonwealth cemetery there.

I have some photos of the grave and the cemetery and surroundings I can send you if you would be interested to have them for your records. You may like to know that the graves have posies of flowers put on them every Christmas and Easter.

      With kind regards,

      Linda Bruce
