Invt. ?322-03-03. Taken 31 March, 1747, by Jacob Williams and David Goodrich. Will dated 1st March, 1746.
I, Thomas Deming of Wethersfield, do make and ordain this my last will and testament: My will is that my wife shall have the use of 1-3 part of all my lands, together with the buildings thereon standing, house, barn, sawmill and whatever other buildings that I shall die seized of, during her natural life; and 1-3 part of my moveable estate forever. In the next place, I give to the heirs of my son Daniel decd., Giles and Abraham Deming, my grandsons, my dwelling house, barn and orchard as it is now fenced, and syder mill, half my plow land in my homelott, that is to say, the east part thereof, and also 1-2 of my mowing pasture on the north end thereof, and also 1-2 of my cow pasture on the west side. Also I give to my grandsons aforesd. a part of a lott of land I bought of the heirs of Joseph Crane of Wethersfield decd. Also I give to my grandsons aforesd. a certain tract of land known by the name of my sawmill lott, to begin at a cross highway and to extend southward until it comes to a 20-rod highway (excepting only a liberty to make a pond to maintain ye going of the sawmill). And also I give to my grandsons aforesd. all my right in the undivided land in the Township of Wethersfield aforesd., and also all my creatures that I wrought in the team in partnership with my son Daniel in his lifetime, and also a small gunn, a sword and belt, and also all my wearing apparrel and half of my team tackling. In the next place, I give to my daughter Eunice, the widow of my son Daniel decd., 2-3 of the lands and buildings herein given to my grandsons aforesd. as long as she continues my son's widow, on consideration of bringing up his children. In the next place, I give to my son SamuelDeming 1-2 of my homelott, with the house thereon standing, whereon he now liveth, viz., on the west side of sd. lott, with the orchard thereon growing, and also 1-2 of my mowing pasture on the south side thereof, and 1-2 of my cow pasture lying on the east side thereof; also certain tracts of land I bought of the heirs of Joseph Crane decd. Also, I give to my son Thomas Deming the north end of my meadow lott with my sawmill thereon standing, with the liberty of making the dam on sd. sawmill brook sufficient for the driving of sd. mill, and all the utensils belonging to the sd. mill, and also 1-2 of my team tackling; and also I give to my son Thomas Deming my bigest gunn. In the next place, I give to my son-in-law Joseph Belding 10 shillings money, old tenor, besides what I gave to him at the time of his marriage. Also, I give to my son-in-law Samuel Williams 10 shillings money, old tenor, besides what I gave him at the time of his marriage. In the next place, I give to my daughter Lucy Dickinson 1-2 of my moveable estate. Also, I give to my daughter Lucy one feather bed, with the furtniture thereto belonging, after my wife's decease; sd. bed stands in the chamber. In the next place, I give to my daughter Mary Hurlbut the other half of my moveable estate and one great Bible, after my wife's decease. I appoint my wife Mary and son Thomas Deming executors.
