    • Hunter's parents were Moses Mansfield Elmore and Nannie Brown. They were married about 1888 and in 1900 lived in a mortgaged home on Pine Srteet, Richmond City, Henrico, Virginia. Hunter's siblings were Ruth born April 1889, Annie M. born July 1890, Katherine born August 1891, and Mary V. born March 1895. His father, for an income built houses. By 1910 they had moved to Tuckahoe in the same county. Hunter had been the youngest but now two more had been born. They were Dollie born 1905 and Moses M.Jr. born 1907. By 1920 the household changed in that the oldest, Annie and Katherine had left home. A newborn was added on Katie H., 1910. It was about 1925 he married Mary Ingalls Farley. They were both high school graduates and rented a house for $50 a month in Chesterfield, Richmond, Virginia. There must have been some traveling involved for their first child was born in New York in 1926, Katherine. Besides Katherine his mother-in-law lived with them in 1940. She was Grace Ingalls Farley born 1866. Hunter worked in the buying and selling of tobacco. At some point they moved to Sunset Avenue, Ward 4, in Rocky Mount North Carolina, probably because of his dealings with tobacco.
