- From Geni.com, by Aaron Michael Smith:
In her will dated 1744, Rebecca mentions her grandson John:5
"...I give to my daughter Elisabeth Elmore the other half of my land including the plantation whereon I now live to her and the heirs of her body lawfully begotten and if she dy without such heir then to my granson John Elmore son of Peter Elmore to him and his lawful heirs forever."
By 1756 this land belonged to John Elmore, Elizabeth (ACE) apparently having died without issue. This land may or may noy have been sold to John's uncle Thomas Elmore (ACA) on 10 November 1756.6 Apparently this indenture was not finalized although it was recorded because twelve days later the same land was sold to Isham Allen as indicated by the following indenture:7
"This Indenture made the Twenty Second Day of November in the year of our Lord One thousand Seven Hundred and fifty six Between John Elmore of the County of Luningburg of the one Part and Isham Allen of the Parish & County of Henrico of the Other Part- Witnesseth that the same John Elmore for the Consideration of the sum of Fifteen Pounds Current Money of Virginia to him in hand paid by the said Isham Allen the Receipt Where of he doth hereby acknowledge Himself fully Sattisfied Contented and paid have given granted Bargained Sold Aliend infeoffed and confirmd and by these presents do give grant bargain sell alien enfoeff and Confirm unto the Sd Isham Allen his heirs and assigns forever One Certain Tract or Parcell of Land Containing one hundred & thirty Seven acres & a half of Land Lying and being on the south side of Chickahiminy River in the County of Henrico it being a Parcell of Land Devised to the said John Elmore by the Will of his grandmother Rebeckah Elmore and is bounded by the Lands of Edmund Allen & Joseph Watson Dec'd With all the Right Titlt Properly Possessions Inheritance Claim and Demand Whatsoever of him the said John Elmore ....[?] or to the same or to any Part thereof, With all the Houses Orchards Fenses and all other Improvements to the sd.
