Pierce #3610 and

11 children

Name given as "Lacinda" in

Between 1825 and 1826 his father is listed in the Bridgewater Twp. tax books as being too poor to pay the school tax for several of his children, but not Lucinda.
SCHSJ vol 11, p 20 (2000)

Between 1827 and 1830 his father is listed in the New Milford Twp. tax books as being too poor to pay the school tax for several of his children including:
Lucinda (1828: 5 years old, 1829: 6 years old, 1830: 8 [sic] years old).
SCHSJ vol 10, pp 64-5 (1999)

I have a birth year of 1823 from, probably, Pierce. Assuming the entry was made in September, the age of 8 in 1830, which is off by one year from the earlier ages, implies her birth date might be Sep 1822.

Pickett information gives a birth date of 17 Aug "1822-1823" even though the double year is meaningless at that date. Based on the above analysis I've made her birth year 1822. Susquehanna County Historical Society a genealogy in the Fiske file has the 17 Aug 1822 date.

Not living with her parents in the 1840 census, married.

From the Susquehanna County Historical Society, Snow family file, unsigned, six-page-plus-cover article "Snow Hollow, [Silver Lake Township,] Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania: A very subjective history of a very special place", page four:
"On Sept. 13, 1865, Heman [Snow] sold the western half of his purchase from Luther [Snow] jointly to Abel (then single) and Lucinda (Fisk) Snow. (Book 34, page 633) By this time, Lucinda seems to have established herself as the "Matriarch of the Hollow", as she had already delivered 13 children to Gideon, and had certainly "taken over" the house on the corner of Mud Lake and Silver Lake roads."

Early history of Milford and other parts of Otsego County by Ezra Stevens.. From RootsWeb
Nathaniel Shelp Family
Nathaniel Shelp from the Mohawk river settled on a farm adjacent to Caleb Wells and remained on same some time. He sold to Elisha Lyons.

Shelp was an old Tory of the Revolution, and the old soldiers did not like him very well. Shelp liked liquor, and the old soldiers would get out to Edsons, get him drunk and get him to sing and put tar in his hair and shoes and cut all kinds of capers with him, because he was a Tory. They made a little poetry about him which ran thus:

"I wonder why old Shelp don't sing
And make old Jake Edson's Bar-room ring
And turn his old hat outside in
And wipe the tobacco juice from his chin?"

The old fellow sold to Mr. Lyons and was glad to get away alive.
