  Eby, Carol E. Crantford 90 May 08, 1923 June 26, 2013 Born to Earl and Marjorie Crantford, Carol recalled her father lining his shoes with cardboard during the Depression for his daily trek from Multnomah Village into downtown Portland after his business partner emptied their florist shop's safe and fled. Married soon after WWII, her first husband, Ron Gardner, died shortly thereafter from a tooth infection untreated during his enlistment. She met her husband of 61 years, Arden Eby Sr., while working at the YMCA reception desk. Their household included his young sons, Robert and Lee. Nine months after a trip to Hawaii many years later, they were surprised and delighted by the birth of a son, Arden Jr. She was grateful to have lived long enough to know her grandchild, Jaedon. Carol called her family daily and after every local weather or significant news event to "make sure everyone is alright." Her phone calls and her love and laughter will be missed.
