    • In my email to Denise Witwer Lahr I asked if she would help to clear up the Henry and George Eby confusion about both wives being names Mary; one married to Mary Strohm the other married to Mary Kuble. This was her reply:

      02/11/2015 From Denise Witwer Lahr:

My information is that Henry married Mary Strohm. Here is what I have on his estate:
      Will Book A, Dauphin County, p. 260, dated June 1, 1786, filed Sept. 29, 1791:

Wife, Mary, to raise the children until son Henry is of age.

      Sons Henry, Jacob and John.

Eldest son, Jacob, < 21, 5 pounds for birthright.

Executors: brother George and brother-in-law, George Strome

      Orphans Court, Dauphin County, April 17, 1798, p. 55:

George's wife was Mary, but I don't know her surname.
Will Book A, p. 300, Dauphin County Archives, dated June 13, 1795, of George Eby of Lebanon Township, Dauphin County, Pa. (filed Nov. 12, 1795)

      Wife, Mary.

Eldest son, John, less than 21 years of age, to get 1/2 of the plantation when he comes of age.

Plantation of about 100 acres adjoining Philip Fessiler (?), Nicholas Zebolt(?), and Leonard (Schlott?), Peter Rule Andrew Huber, and the division line.

Son Henry to plow for widow on her small piece of land.

Son Henry also not of age; gets other half.

Son Peter gets a tract of 9 acres lying near Three Corners adjoining Nicholas Zebolt, Mathias Benneville, Christopher Uhler (?), Jacob S?, and Henry Eby.

      04/16/2015:

I have continued to work on these Ebys - George and Henry, presumably sons of Jacob.

But I have made progress by ignoring everything done before and trying to rebuild it.

Much clarification comes from the will of Henry Eby, son of Henry and Mary (Strohm) Eby. He married Anna Schnebley (Snavely), but they had no children, and so he left everything to his family. Unfortunately the will was in German so I don't think anyone ever really looked at it.

      Will D--218, Heinrich Eby, d)9/23/1863, p)6/18/1864
Executors: Jacob, son of brother Jacob, and Johannes Hoak
Gives money to various Lutheran churches.

Francis Marion Schnebley, Peter Schebly's son, $100. Peter Schnebeley is wife's brother.
Amanda, daughter of Jonathan Eby, $100.
      Catharina Hibsman, $100.
Aaron Eby, son of Jonathan Eby, $100.

Elizabeth Fiterer, wife of Johannes Fiterer, $5.00
Wesley Fernsler, son of Daniel Fernsler, $5.00
Rebecca Bricksler, daughter of Peter Schebley, $60.00
Philip Becker, son of my sister Anna, $250.00
Heinrich Fernsler, son of Georg Fernsler (decesed), $50.
      Sister Barbara's children, 1/5 part less $50.
      Deceased brother Jacob's children, 1/5/part.
      Sister Maria's children, 1/5 part less $50.
      Sister Veronica's children, 1/5 part
Brother Johannes's children (except Christian) 1/5 part.
Misc. other bquests and a codicil.

As for George Eby (d. 1795), I cannot figure out where this Mary Kuble business came from..Unless Mary Wanner was first married to a Kuble. I believe that George was probably married first to a Barbara, perhaps Crall) and then to Mary Wanner. (John Wanner's Will identifies Mary)

I need to look up all of these releases and try to work some more on the Strohms, which I think will give us insight.

Also, the Lutheran church records in Lebanon are insightful. I will scan my current working outline and attach. Witnesses at marriages were within the immediate family.
