Mildred Klopfenstein
Mildred Klopfenstine, 80, of Rensselaer, passed away on Sunday, June 24 at Jasper County Hospital Alternacare in Rensselaer.
She was born June 25, 1911 in Rensselaer to Frank Andrew and Dora Elizabeth (Jordan) Morrow.
She married Lee Moore Klopfenstein on November 24, 1949 in Rensselaer. He preceded her in death on August 4, 1993.
A teacher, she was raised in Rensselaer, graduating from Rensselaer High School in 1929.
She attended Indiana University and the National Teacher's College. She was employed as a teacher for 44 years in both the Rensselaer and Chicago areas.
She returned to Rensselaer in 1977 after having lived in Chicago.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Rensselaer, the Illinois and Indiana Teacher's Associations, the National Education Association, the James Ladies Aide, the Priscilla Club, Ladies Literary Club and Jasper County Extension Homemakers Club.
She was also a member of various church groups.
She is survived by nephew, James McCord of Clearwater, Florida, and two grand-nieces, Michel McCord and Erin McCord.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a sister and a brother.
Visitation will be held Thursday, June 28 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Jackson Funeral Chapel in Rensselaer.
Funeral services will be held at the Jackson Funeral Chapel at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 28.
Burial will follow at the Remington Cemetery.
