    • Martin C. Eby, 75, of 13 Fair View St, East Earl R1, a retired chemical engineer, died Sunday at 3 pm. in his residence, following a three month illness.

      He was the husband of Esta Hershey Eby and was born in Earl Township, a son of the late H. John and Sarah L. Hershey Eby. He was a resident of the area for the past four years, previously residing in Knauers, Berks County.

      He had been employed as a chemical engineer for Althouse Chemical Company, a division of Crompton-Knowles, Reading, for 37 years, prior to retirement in 1975. He was the superintendent of production for many years. He was a 1934 graduate of Lehigh University with a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering.

      He was a member of the Weaverland Mennonite Church, where he taught Sunday School and was active in volunteer work for the Mennonite Central Committee Materail Aid Center, Ephrata, for the past l0 years.

      He was preceded in death by his ?rst wife, Helen S. Wenger Eby, who died in June, 1960.

      He and his wife, Esta, celebrated their 22nd wedding anniversary on Sept. 28, 1985.

      In addition in his wife, he is survived by four sons: John M.,Pennsville, N.J.; Peter W., Nashville, Tenn; James R., Olympia,Wash.; Michael C., Virginia Beach, Va.; a daughter, Sarah A., wife of Daniel Ebersole, Atlanta, Ga.; nine grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Sensenig, Landis Homes, Lititz R3.
