- 1900 Census Port Huron Ward 9, Saint Clair, Michigan
1930 Census Detroit, Wayne, Michigan
- George W. Quilhot was raised in the Detroit, Michigan area. He had one older brother, Frank, who was childless.. George married Bertha Evelyn Swickheimer of Delaware, Ohio in Delaware on June 6, 1906. After her death in 1932 he later married Norma Stratiff for a short time. There were no children with Norma. George & Bertha had 3 children: John Henry (Helen Child); George Russell(Jo Truesdell & Dorothy Grohens); and Bertha Evelyn (Emery Watters & Richard Caldwell). George was in the hardware and grocery store business in the Detroit area for a number of years, located on Joy Rd. and Inkster Rd, and was a machinist and toolmaker by trade. He played the piano beautifully, and all by 'ear'. The family loved to hear him play "Jiminy Crack'd Corn", while they all sang and the dog howled.
He retired to Bradenton, FL in the 1950's to what was at the time the world's largest mobile home park. As he became more frail he moved to his granddaughters home in Palmetto, FL and then to his son's home in South Bend, IN. where he died. He is buried in Delaware, OH. His wife and children are also buried in Oak Grove.
