- 1930 Census Flint, Genesee, Michigan as BERNETHY
- Fern and Lyman were divorced. Fern later married an Unknown Clark, who was killed be a car while he was crossing the road. Fern later married William (Bill) McConnell. She was operating Clark's Grocery and Lillian (Bernethy) Coffron went to work for her around 1960.
Fern was then hurt badley in an auto accident and unable to continue wih Clark's so Lillian bought it from her in 1964 (approx) and operated it until January of 1973, when she in turn sold it.
Fern later regained the use of her legs following the car accident and she and her husband started a business in Mayville.
