  • Notes
    • 1880 Census Sutton, Clay, Nebraska as Peter NAGLE; states he is a laborer and Sophia keeps house. Neither can read or write. States he was 31 making his DOB about 1849 in this census.
1900 Census Sutton, Clay, Nebraska as Peter NAGEL; widowed living by himself. Works as a day laborer; still states he cannot read or write and cannot speak English. He does own his home and is free of any mortgage. This census gives his DOB as May 1840.
1910 Census Sutton Ward 1, Clay, Nebraska as Peter NAGEL; states he has been married 3 times. Margaret is his third wife, married in 1907, so there may be one wife between Sophia and Margaret. This census states he was born in 1839 in Russia and that he immigrated in 1899. I, at first, wondered if this was correct Peter because it states he can read and write and speaks English.
1920 Census Sutton, Clay, Nebraska as Peter NAGEL; states he immigrated in 1875, was an Alien and never became naturalized. He spoke no English and owned his home free of mortgage. His native tongue was German. It was the first census that stated the city of his birthplace which was Saratov, Russia. States he was 81 making his DOB about 1839.

I am sure the 1910 census is the correct person but for whatever reason, the info written was told incorrectly or was interpreted incorrectly.
