1850 Census Hancock, Illinois as James BERNETHY
1860 Census La Harpe, Hancock, Illinois as James BERNETHY
- I have added James to this family with no evidence whatsoever that he is a son of Charles Bernethy. I have purely done this by conjecture.
In my searchs for Moses G Bernethy, I found him in 1870 living next to a Jas. A Bernethy, wife Carrie, children Silas and Henry. I searched for who James (Jas.) may be. He was born in Pennsylvanis ca 1798. I know that Charles Abernethy (Bernethy) had William and Robert Perry, that has been proven they are sons, but I also knew he had 2 older sons and 1 older daughter that were older than William and Robert Perry. (Also one younger son) Since Charles Grandson Moses was living next to James and Carrie, one would assume Moses and James knew each other. If so, how were they related? I knew James wasn't an older brother of Moses and Moseses fathers line, Robert Perry, has been researched and Robert had no such son. Since james was of the age to be one of Charles' sons, at this point in time, I am assuming he is a son of Charles.
If anyone has proof the verify this or prove it incorrect, please contact me.
