    • I don't find where charles was ever married prior to 1930 census. He was always listed as single.

      World War I Draft Registration Cards, 1917-1918 > Kansas > Marshall County he was listed as single and when asked if he claimed exemption from the draft he states "yes" on the grounds "Church of the Brethern." He states he is short of height, medium build, bluish brown eyes with brown hair. When asked if person has lost arm, leg, hand, foot or both eyes or if he is otherwise disabled he states, "Ruptured." I am assuming he means ears. Could he have been deaf? It was dated and signed 05 Jun 1917.
