  • Notes
    • 1880 Census Sparta, Monroe, Wisconsin

1900 Census Vernon Center, Blue Earth, Minnesota as Abionza OLEARY His name cannot be made out. I definatley see Indianola (Indanola)and the two girls but his name looks like Abion. But in close inspection it is just a curley M, and the H has the top of it written real light and you can't see it making it look like an N.

1910 census records: I searched all of the Nordon/Norden Election District for any O?leary family, could not find one. 1910 census is not indexed so no telling if they resided in another town.

1920 Norden, Snohomish, Washington as M.T. OLEARY
49 head born Wisconsin, father Ireland, mother Germany, Dairy Farmer, 38 on farm schedule
OLeary, Indianola 42 wife born Indiana, father Indiana, mother Indiana, no occupation
Cole, Abram 68 father-in-law; born Indiana, father NY, mother NY; Rancher
Cole, Laura Ellen mother-in-law, born Indiana, father United States, mother United States, no occupation.

No other OLeary families in Snohomish County, WA

1930 Census, Norden, Snohomish, Washington as Mike OLEARY, Nola wife 52 born Indiana as were both parents Cole, Laura E. mother-in-law 69 widowed born Indiana as were both parents

LIVING DIRECTLY NEXT DOOR WAS (probably brother of Nola):
Cole, Ezra O. head 43 born Indiana as were both parents General Farm
Cole, Martha E. wife 44 born MN, father Norway, mother Iowa
Cole, Charles W. son 10 born Washington, father IN, mother MN
Cole, Merrill D. son 7 born Washington, father IN, mother MNH
Knedson (sp?), Helen A. mother-in-law; 71 widowed, born Iowa, father Maine, mother PA

    • Charles and Edna O'Leary are buried in the same cemetery as Michael and Nola; unknown if related.

Per Wisconsin death records, Charles R. O'Leary died on 27 May 1952 in Snohomish Co., WA.

Per Social Security records, Edna O'Leary was born 26 Jul 1901, died June 1977. Last residence: Asotin, Asotin, WA 99402. Last Benefit sent to: Clarkston, Asotin, WA 99403; SSN: 534-05-7165

The two photos mentioned below were received from Viola Fitzmaurice in 1982.

s326 photo c1915 which appears to be a four generation picture of Michael (abt age 45), wife Nola (abt age 40), their daughter (either Flora or Barbara, abt age 20) and her son/daughter (abt age 6 mo). The photo has the following message on the reverse: From "Arlington, Wash, R.F.D. #2, Box 109. to Brother Peter & Family. Will drop you a few lines to let you know Mike is getting almost well again, he is gaining fast now, hope he keeps it up as I do not like to sell our little home unless I have to - - in a couple more years we can raise our living off of our place. Nola O'Leary"

s326 photo (c abt 1922) Back of photo states "Mike O'Leary and great- grandaughter Barbara Pratt" Barbara Pratt yet to be identified.

Have copy of letter c1939 (1935?) sent to bro Peter from Nola advising of Michael's death: (copy provided by Viola Fitzmaurice, granddaughter of Peter)

      (from) Arlington, Wash, R2, Box 109 (105?), dated 3-21-1939 (1935?)
"Dear folks, just a few lines to let you know that Mike passed away the morning of the 13th and was laid to rest yesterday. He was happy in the lord and ready to go and went rather suddenly and easy. Was sick at the last just a few hours and not as much pain as I have seen him have. He often said he hoped you were saved and followed the teachings of the bible and would greet him some day with Jesus. Four of our grandsons and two grandsons in low (??) were the pall bearers and he was laid away nice and the weather was beautiful and warm. There were a lot of beautiful flowers, and the church was full of people." Signed Nola O'Leary

    • His death certificate states he was born in Wisconsin and from family members we are told it was probably Oil City, Monroe County.

His deather certificate states his length of residencey in the town or city where death occured was 27 year. This tells me he arrived approximately in 1912. Whether that was when he arrive in Washington I'm not sure. If so, he was approximately 42 years old. If he arrived in Washington at the age of 42, he was then married somewhere else. If this ws when he arried in Arlington, he could have lived somewhere else in state.
