John Eby and his wife Elizabeth Myers lived in Sherman Valley, Perry County, Pennsylvania. Many of their descendants are located in the vicinity of Newport, Pennsylvania. Some later moved westward to Iowa and Illinois - The Genealogy of Henry Baer by Willis N. Baer, PhD (1955)
Came to Perry Co., about 1843, New Germantown area, a Dunkard. Three Springs Church of the Brethren says from around Shippenburg, Letterkenny Twp. (Gregg Jacobs)
My husband's Johannes Eby was to have lived near Doylesburg, Franklin Co., Pennsylvania. then moved to Dickinson Twp., Cumberland Co., Pennsylvania. then on to Toboyne Twp., Perry Co., Pennsylvania. In 1843 when he purchased land (about 393 acres) near "a small community known as Centerville". His house still stands today. He was of the German Baptist Church (aka Dunkards and now mostly known as the Church of the Brethren). His home was built to hold "church" in - with the doors inside to open up and large windows to open so that the "word of God" could be heard by persons outside. - Donna Heller Zinn - djzinn@pa.net

Many People have this John Eby (married to Sarah Ellen Spurgeon) confused with John Eby who married Elizabeth Myers.
John Eby (who married Sarah) was born 03 Jun 1803 in Pennsylvania and, as far as I know, no one has found his place of death and burial. Many people have his death as 20 May 1866 and buried in the Eby Cemetery in New Germantown, Sherman Valley, Perry County, Pennsylvania. This in incorrect.
Jophn Eby married to Elizabeth Myers is the correct John that is buried in this cemetery.
