Notes |
- Comments: Love your site and genealogies! I too have done significant research on the Eby and Hershey families, and have a suggestion for a correction on your site. You have "Bishop" Jacob Hershey marrying Barbara Eby -- not correct, he married Elizabeth Eby, who is buried with him at the Graybill Mennonite cemetery (which you can find on Find-A-Grave.com).
Jacob Hershey's cousin, also named Jacob Hershey b 1737 in Lancaster, married Elizabeth's sister Barbara Eby b 14 Dec 1740. As the two Jacobs were contemporaries and married sisters, genealogists refer to this Jacob as "of Warwick Twp," while Bishop Jacob is referred to as "of Donegal Twp."
Among other places, the marriage of Barbara Eby to Jacob Hershey of Warwick has been vetted and confirmed by the genealogists of the DAR; you can find his records there as Am Rev Patriot with wife Barbara Eby. His record number with the DAR is A207245.
Best wishes!
