- 1900 Census Wardner, Shoshone, Idaho as Harry BARNES; states he was born in Maine as were his parents.
- I had previously been told he was born in 1874.
In his son Earls draft registration, Earl states his father was born in Maine. My mother Berneil, Earls daughter, states that Harry was born on a ship outside of Maine and his mother could not take care of him and asked the Barnes family to take him. They did and later adopted him. She feels that Harry's real last name could have been Aronson but she is not positive.
His son Earls army discharge states his father was 21 when he was married.
