- Dawn Quast:
found in the Civil War Index a document that states Mary L Eby requested pension benefits; it states David Eby was with 2 Illinois Cavalry. Date of the filing was 10-02-1890.David and his brother, Edward, moved to Marion Co., Kansas about 1867 or 68 - Suzette Thompson. In about 1874, David with his family moved from Kansas to Wyoming, thence to the Rogue River region, in Oregon, a few years afterward they journeyed to the Yakima country, Washington, where for 10 years they raised horses and David doing carpenter work. In 1887, the family came to Camas Prairie, and in 1889 the mother filed on a piece of land one and one-half miles west from Fraser. The mother and children settling there. Why the father did not come along is not mentioned. (Dead? Separated?) Hint: "When our subject's father (David) left Yakima he had one hundred and thirty head of fine horses, but they lost about two-thirds of them."
