Quirin Kempf, from Baden, Germany, moved with his family onto Survey 307 on the Missouri River south of Musick Ferry and farmed. He and his wife, Appolonia, arrived in New Orleans aboard the "Minnesota", with a son and daughter on March 13, 1852. A daughter born in Portage des Sioux Township, Philomena, married Louis Arth. His brother was Anton Arth, the husband of Catherine Kollman Pfeiffer, the "Katie Art" later known in Portage. The 2 Arth brothers were first cousins of the local Weber families, all from Eberbach, Alsace. The Arths and Kempfs moved to Lafayette County, Missouri, before 1900.

Tony moved west to Lafayette County, Missouri in Dec 1891 and in Jan 1900 he and Katie divorced.
- See Missouri Death Certificate #31512. Mr. Arth was a "Farmer." His parents are Unknown. He married Catherina Kollman on Sept. 15, 1891 at Portage de Sioux, St. Charles County, Missouri. He was divorced in January of 1900. His brother is Louis Arth, memorial #91162467.
