- Frances 'Franny' Dickson -September 7, 2004
Lifelong Aberdeen resident Frances 'Franny' Dickson, 80, a former waitress and bartender, died Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2004, at her home.
Mrs. Dickson was born Jan. 18, 1924, in Aberdeen to Charles and Regina (Paluszenski) McNaull. She attended Aberdeen's Weatherwax High School and was a clerk at Failor's in Aberdeen a number of years in the 1950s.
She later managed Ida's Inn and The Ship Tavern and also kept bar for the Aberdeen Veterans of Foreign Wars. She retired in the mid-1970s. She had also been a waitress at the Wirta Cafe.
Mrs. Dickson was a member of the Aberdeen VFW Auxiliary and the Hotel and Restaurant Employees and Bartenders International Union. She enjoyed cooking and making sure children and animals had plenty to eat and always had food prepared to take to the needy.
Survivors include three daughters, Sharon Gerard of Seattle, Rosalie Brown of Aurora, Colo., and Michelle Adams of Idaho Falls, Idaho; three sons, Robert McKinney of Portland, Ore., and Carlin and Kevin Diehm, both of Aberdeen; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A sister, Dorothy LaBrec, and a brother, Charles McNaull, died previously.
A graveside inurnment service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday , Sept. 18, in Aberdeen's Fern Hill Cemetery.
Memorial donations are suggested to the Union Gospel Mission, 405 E. Heron, Aberdeen, 98520. Arrangements are by Evergreen Mortuary & Cremation of Aberdeen.
