    • DEATH OF PICKENS BRADY

The Press learns with sincere regret of the death of Mr. Pickens Brady at his home near Prentiss last Monday night after a critical illness of several days. The funeral occurred at Old Bethany Baptist church, of which he was a member of long and consistent standing, Tuesday afternoon, after which interment was had in the Brady cemetery about three miles west of Prentiss.

Mr. Brady lived to the ripe old age of 92 years and was one of the stalwart citizens of Jefferson Davis county, where he was known and loved for his many noble qualities. This writer has known Mr. Brady for more than fifty years. At the time we started the Press in Monticello in 1888, Prentiss was then known as Blountville and was a part of Lawrence county. Mr. Pickens Brady was a well-to-do and highly respected citizen of that community and was one of our first subscribers. We don't know of a man in all our acquaintance whom we more highly esteemed during his lifetime and whose memory will always be cherished by us.

Mr. Brady was married twice, his first wife passing to the Great Beyond many years ago. He is survived by his second wife and the following son and three daughters by his first wife: Hon. T. Brady, Jr., of Brookhaven; Mmes. Chas. Duckworth and Rupert Wilson of Prentiss, and Mrs. Davis, the former Miss Susie Brady, of San Antonio, Texas, who have our sincere sympathy in their sore bereavement.
