      He was a Merchant Marine on the U.S. ship that protected American shipping off the coast of Peru and the Pacific coastline of South America. He was killed when the ship came under attack offshore near Valparaiso, Chili, South America.
      At the present time it is not known where he is buried. It is quite possible that he was given a burial at sea.
