- Wilton Shapard "Shep" Elmore, 83, of Orange, Va. died on Monday, January 10, 2011 at the Dogwood Village of Orange. Born August 19, 1927 in Halifax, Va. he was the son of the late Wilton Pruden Elmore and Elvin Shapard Elmore. He is also predeceased by a nephew Emory Elmore; and two brothers Bennett Elmore and W. Terry Elmore.
Shep was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, a Navy veteran of World War II, a member of the Orange Independent Masonic Lodge, a charter member of the Alberta Vol. Fire Co., the Orange Lions Club, the American Legion Post 156, a member of the Hospice of Rapidan, past Secretary, Treasurer of the Trinity UMC, a member of the Men's Club at Trinity, a member of the Industrial and Commercial Ministry, active in the Boy Scouts where he received the Silver Beaver Award and was an Eagle Scout, and was active in the Ham Radio Club.
Shep is survived by his wife Barbara Baker Elmore of Orange; two sons Wilton S. Elmore and wife Vicki of Warrenton and David B. Elmore and wife Gina of Fredericksburg; five grandchildren Remy Elmore of Richmond, Taylor Bednarczyk and Nathan Badnarczyk both of Warrenton, Joshua Elmore and Bradley Elmore both of Fredericksburg; and three nieces.
Memorial funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 13, 2011, at 11:00 A.M. in the Trinity United Methodist Church, Orange with Pastor Tom Barnard, Rev. Olan Herndon and the Rev. Forest Porter officiating. Interment will follow at the Culpeper National Cemetary. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 from 7:00 to 8:30 P.M. at the Preddy Funeral Home, 250 W. Main St., Orange, Va. 22960, where a masonic service will be held at 7:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Rapidan, P.O. Box 1715, Culpeper, Va. 22701.
