    • Belvidere- William L. Douglas, 80, died at 10:20 a.m. Saturday, July 12, 2003 in OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center after a lengthy Illness. Born May 29, 1923, in Eau Clare, Wis., to Jack and Grace (Taylor) Douglas. Bill married Evelyn Abernathy on Aug. 14, 1959, in Belvidere. Over the years he has worked in construction, was a plumber's helper, roofer, worked for Ipsens, Green Giant and retired from Arnold Engineering in Marengo. Bill served our country during World War ll in the Army in the European Theater and again in the Air Force Sationed in Alaska during the Korean War. Bill was a member of the John Hugo Kaiser Post 1461 VFW. He liked to fish with his daughter, Tina. Enjoyed watching wrestling on TV and was an avid card player. Survivors iknclude his wife, Evelyn of Belvidere; children, Tina M. Douglas and Lorraine Davis, both of Belvidere and Richard and Linda Douglas, both of Elgin; brother Donald (Janet) Douglas of Loves Park; and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents; daughter, Laurie Davis on July 7, 2003; brother, Leonard Douglas; and uncle Elmer Ainsworth.

      Services at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 19, in Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Funeral Home, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave., with the Rev. Thomas P. Rosa officiating. Burial in Belvidere Cemetery. Visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 18, in the funeral home. In Lieu of flowers, donations to the family.
