      Ira P. Eby was born Sept. 17, 1860, near Waterloo, Iowa, and died Jan. 3 0, 1952, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Adail Pusey, near Pocomoke, M D. He served as a home mission worker in southeastern Missouri and north eastern Arkansas for 20 years. In 1907 he began his work as minister of the Church of the Brethren in Omaja, Cuba. In 1915 he and his wife took charge of the kitchen and dining hall at Mt. Morris College, Ill. In 1925 he moved with his family to Westover, Md., where he resided until shortly before his death.
      His first wife, Araminta, died Aug. 12, 1943. He was later married to Florida Green on July 4, 1944. She also preceded him in death on March 2, 1951.
      Bro. Eby was a great inspiration to the church and was a guiding light to all who knew him.
      He is survived by one daughter, Eva Pusey of Pocomoke City; three sons, Marion of National City CA, Shirley of Cordova MD, and Paul of Westove r; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. (Submitted by Maggie Johnson, Westover MD)

      Ira P. Eby was born at Mt. Carroll, Illinois in 1860, the son of Samuel M. Eby (a brother of Enoch Eby, 1828-1910) and Anna Sollenberg Eby. He was married to Arminta Swab in 1884 (d. 1943) and Florida Green in 1944 (d. 1951). He united with the German Baptist Brethren Church, 1880; was elected to the ministry, 1887; ordained to the eldership, 1898. Ira P. Eby served as a home mission worker for the General Mission Board in Arkansas and southeastern Missouri, 1887-1906. In these years he organized five churches. He served as minister to the Church of the Brethren in Omaja, Cuba, 1907-1915. From 1915 to 1925 he and his wife had charge of the kitchen and dining hall at Mt. Morris College. In 1925 he moved with his family to Westover, Maryland where he farmed. He died in 1952.
